The People

Emma Marshall – Proprietor

Emma founded the firm after qualifying as a chartered accountant with KPMG in Manchester and then completing a Masters Degree in Business Administration at Manchester Business School. She has since been admitted to Fellowship of the Institute and continues to develop the practice and meet regularly with her clients as well as dealing with HMRC enquiry work and specific forensic accounting projects.

Julie Harvey – Reception, Practice Management

Julie joined Marshall & Co. in October 1998 and is the first person you will meet as she covers our reception. Julie also deals with client payments and any day to day enquiries that arise, either as clients call into the office or by phone.

Kym Perry – Client Maintenance, Credit Control, Practice Management

Kym joined the firm in August 2003, initially only for a few hours a week.  She now fulfils a much more active role in assisting clients with their queries on a daily basis as well as performing a credit control function for a number of our larger clients.

Claire Wakefield – Accounts, Audit, Corporation Tax

Claire joined Marshall & Co in March 2003 and is a qualified Accounting Technician. Claire is one of our accounts managers with particular responsibility for her own portfolio of corporate clients. She also oversees the onsite bookkeeping and VAT function for some of our larger clients, for whom we effectively act as an outsourced accounting department.

Andrea Bamford  - Personal Tax, Tax Credits

Andrea joined Marshall & Co in September 2004 and is in charge of all personal tax return preparation and submission, including returns for sole traders and partnerships.  Andrea is also involved in helping clients with their ongoing personal tax queries – for example, tax credits, checking PAYE coding notices, reminding clients about payment deadlines etc.

Rachael Bamford – Accounts, Audit, Corporation Tax

Rachael joined Marshall & Co in December 2006 and is a qualified Accounting Technician and part-qualified Chartered Accountant, having completed the first part of the ICAEW training inhouse at Marshall & Co.  Rachael is one of our accounts managers with particular responsibility for her own portfolio of corporate clients. She also oversees the onsite  bookkeeping and VAT function for some of our larger clients and supervises other members of staff in their day to day duties.

Rachel Newton – Accounts, Bookkeeping, VAT

Rachel joined the firm in September 2007 and is currently studying for the Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification.  Rachel assists in the preparation of accounts for sole traders and partnerships and also completes the bookkeeping and VAT work for some clients.  She is also responsible for ensuring that clients bring in their books and records in a timely manner so that deadlines can be met and a constant work flow maintained.

Angela Oakes – Payroll, Company Secretarial

Angela joined us in October 2007 and looks after our payroll function which we operate for a large number of our clients on a weekly or monthly basis.  Angela is also responsible for all dealings with Companies House and liaises with clients to set up limited companies on their behalf and to ensure that all documentation is filed promptly and correctly.

Sarah Robson – Bookkeeping and VAT

Sarah has worked for Marshall & Co since July 2006 and is responsible for the bookkeeping and VAT function of a large number of our clients who prefer us to handle this aspect of their accounting responsibility for them.
